About the person

Mag. Dr. Sabine Sammer-Schreckenthaler is an experienced psychotherapist specializing in psychoanalysis, as well as psychotherapeutic work with infants, children, and adolescents. In addition to her role as a psychotherapeutic assessor and scientific psychotherapist, she has undertaken various professional positions that highlight her expertise and commitment to the psychotherapeutic field.

From 2012 to 2019, she worked at the Kinderhilfswerk association in the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic for children and adolescents. In 2015, she opened her own private practice in Vienna (1st district) and also worked in a private practice in Wolfsthal, Lower Austria, from 2016 to 2022. Since 2016, she has regularly given lectures at various institutions, including the Kinderhilfswerk association, VÖPP, VPA, VPL, as well as in kindergartens and schools.

From 2016 to 2018, she was an author for the online magazine derwienerpsychoanalytiker.at, where she wrote feature articles. Since 2018, she has been working again in her private practice in Vienna (22nd district) and has also taken on important roles within the professional association. Since 2018, she has been the district psychotherapeutic representative of the VÖPP in the 22nd district. In 2020, she was appointed as an examiner for the Academic Institute for Higher Education (AIHE).

From 2021 to 2022, she served as Vice President of the Association of Austrian Psychotherapists (VÖPP), and in 2023, she was elected President of the VÖPP. In the same year, she took on the professional management of the counseling center of the Kinderhilfswerk association, where she brings her extensive experience and expertise to psychotherapeutic work.

Mag. Dr. Sabine Sammer-Schreckenthaler ist eine Psychotherapeutin mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Psychoanalyse sowie auf der psychotherapeutischen Arbeit mit Säuglingen, Kindern und Jugendlichen. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit als psychotherapeutische Gutachterin und wissenschaftliche Psychotherapeutin hat sie vielfältige berufliche Stationen durchlaufen, die ihre Expertise und ihre Engagement in der psychotherapeutischen Praxis unterstreichen.

Zwischen 2012 und 2019 war sie im Kinderhilfswerk tätig, wo sie in der psychotherapeutischen Ambulanz für Kinder und Jugendliche arbeitete. Im Jahr 2015 eröffnete sie ihre eigene Praxis in Wien (1. Bezirk) und war auch in den Jahren 2016 bis 2022 in einer privaten Praxis in Wolfsthal, Niederösterreich, tätig. Seit 2016 hält sie regelmäßig Vorträge an verschiedenen Institutionen, darunter der Verein Kinderhilfswerk, die VÖPP, VPA, VPL sowie in Kindergärten und Schulen.

In den Jahren 2016 bis 2018 war sie als Autorin für das Online-Magazin derwienerpsychoanalytiker.at aktiv und verfasste dort Fachartikel. Ab 2018 arbeitete sie erneut in ihrer privaten Praxis in Wien (22. Bezirk) und übernahm auch wichtige Funktionen im Berufsverband. Seit 2018 ist sie als Bezirkspsychotherapeutische Vertreterin der VÖPP im 22. Bezirk tätig. 2020 wurde sie zudem als Prüferin für das Academic Institute for Higher Education (AIHE) tätig.

Von 2021 bis 2022 bekleidete sie das Amt der Vizepräsidentin des Verbands Österreichischer Psychotherapeuten (VÖPP) und wurde 2023 schließlich zur Präsidentin des VÖPP gewählt. Im gleichen Jahr übernahm sie die professionelle Leitung des Beratungszentrums des Vereins Kinderhilfswerk, wo sie ihre langjährige Erfahrung und ihr Fachwissen in der psychotherapeutischen Arbeit einbringt.
