Monika Baumann

About the person

Mag. Monika Baumann is a clinical and health psychologist, a registered systemic family therapist, and a child and adolescent psychotherapist. She is an international Senior Trainer and Supervisor for Brainspotting and heads Brainspotting Austria. With a strong academic background in neuro- and learning psychology, she supports individuals of all ages—from six-week-old infants to elderly clients—in processing emotional stress and traumatic experiences. She applies Brainspotting both in short-term interventions and as part of longer therapeutic processes.

Her particular passion lies in working with children and adolescents. Together with Martha S. Jacobi, she developed the international seminar Brainspotting with Children and has published two professional books on the subject, most recently in 2023 with Carl Auer Verlag.

In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in development aid projects, especially in Paraguay. Through the initiative Brainspotting Help, she continuously supports people affected by war with her expertise.

​Mag. Monika Baumann ist Klinische und Gesundheitspsychologin, eingetragene systemische Familientherapeutin sowie Kinder- und Jugendpsychotherapeutin. Sie ist internationale Seniortrainerin und Supervisorin für Brainspotting und leitet Brainspotting Austria. Ausgehend von ihrer fundierten Ausbildung in Neuro- und Lernpsychologie begleitet sie Menschen jeden Alters – vom sechs Wochen alten Baby bis hin zu hochbetagten Klient*innen – bei der Verarbeitung emotionaler Belastungen und traumatischer Erfahrungen. Brainspotting nutzt sie sowohl in Kurzzeitinterventionen als auch in längeren therapeutischen Prozessen.

Besonders engagiert ist sie in der Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen. Gemeinsam mit Martha S. Jacobi entwickelte sie das internationale Seminar „Brainspotting with Children“ und veröffentlichte dazu zwei Fachbücher, zuletzt 2023 im Carl Auer Verlag.

Neben ihrer therapeutischen Tätigkeit ist sie regelmäßig in entwicklungshilflichen Projekten aktiv, insbesondere in Paraguay. Im Rahmen von „Brainspotting Help“ unterstützt sie kriegsbetroffene Menschen mit ihrer Expertise.
