Martin Astenwald

About the person

MMag. Martin Astenwald is a music therapist with extensive experience in psychiatric and educational settings. He studied Music Therapy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) from 2003 to 2007 and further pursued studies in Music Education, Psychology, and Philosophy at the same institution from 2004 to 2010.

His professional career began in 2007 with music therapy work in child and adolescent psychiatry at Rosenhügel Vienna, where he remained until 2013. During this time, he also gained experience in teaching, working at AHS Kenyongasse in Vienna from 2012 to 2013. Since 2013, he has been active in psychiatric rehabilitation at Sonnenpark Lans – pro mente Reha, where he continues to apply music therapy in a clinical setting. Additionally, he is a member of the Vienna Institute for Music Therapy (WIM), contributing to the advancement of the field through professional collaboration and research.

MMag. Martin Astenwald ist Musiktherapeut mit umfangreicher Erfahrung in psychiatrischen und pädagogischen Bereichen. Er studierte von 2003 bis 2007 Musiktherapie an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (mdw) und vertiefte sein Studium von 2004 bis 2010 in den Fächern Musikerziehung, Psychologie und Philosophie an derselben Institution.

Seine berufliche Laufbahn begann 2007 mit musiktherapeutischer Arbeit in der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie am Rosenhügel in Wien, wo er bis 2013 tätig war. Während dieser Zeit sammelte er zudem pädagogische Erfahrung als Lehrkraft an der AHS Kenyongasse in Wien von 2012 bis 2013. Seit 2013 arbeitet er in der psychiatrischen Rehabilitation im Sonnenpark Lans – pro mente Reha, wo er Musiktherapie im klinischen Kontext anwendet. Darüber hinaus ist er Mitglied des Wiener Instituts für Musiktherapie (WIM) und engagiert sich durch fachlichen Austausch und Forschung für die Weiterentwicklung des Fachgebiets.
