Erzsébet Fanni Tóth

About the person

Ass.-Prof. Dr.scient.pth Erzsébet Fanni Tóth, M.A. is Head of the Institute for Transgenerational Trauma Transmission Research and lecturer in qualitative research methods and university didactics in the international psychotherapy science program at the Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna. She studied psychology and cultural anthropology at Utrecht University, as well as sociology and sociocultural anthropology at the Central European University. She earned her doctorate in psychotherapy science at SFU.

Her academic focus lies in the interdisciplinary application of qualitative research methods, particularly in the fields of migration, trauma, identity, and gender. Within international research projects, she explores issues related to cultural memory and minority studies, with a special emphasis on Jewish and Hungarian history in Central Europe and the identity processes of Japanese lifestyle migrants.

Ass.-Prof. Dr.scient.pth Erzsébet Fanni Tóth, M.A. ist Leiterin des Instituts für transgenerationale Traumaübertragungsforschung sowie Dozentin für qualitative Forschungsmethoden und Hochschuldidaktik im internationalen Programm für Psychotherapiewissenschaft an der Sigmund Freud PrivatUniversität Wien. Sie studierte Psychologie und Kulturanthropologie in Utrecht sowie Soziologie und soziokulturelle Anthropologie an der Central European University. Ihre Promotion absolvierte sie in Psychotherapiewissenschaft an der SFU.

Ihr wissenschaftlicher Fokus liegt auf der interdisziplinären Anwendung qualitativer Forschungsmethoden in den Bereichen Migration, Trauma, Identität und Gender. In internationalen Projekten forscht sie zu Erinnerungskultur und Minderheiten, insbesondere zur jüdischen und ungarischen Geschichte Mitteleuropas sowie zu Identitätsprozessen japanischer Lebensstilmigranten.
