Erhabor Idemudia

About the person

Prof. Erhabor Idemudia is a renowned Research and Clinical Psychology Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, North-West University, South Africa, and former Head of the Department of Psychology. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and is an NRF-rated scientist. He is the Chair of three major ethics committees (BaSSREC, HSSREC, and EMELTEN-REC), and serves as General Secretary and Registrar of the African Chapter of the World Council for Psychotherapy, where he also holds a board membership. Prof. Idemudia is a recipient of the Georg Forster Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and has held fellowships across Germany, the UK, Austria, and South Africa. With over 450 scientific publications, he is a leading expert on migration, mental health, and psychosocial wellbeing. His recent book, Psychosocial Experiences of African Migrants in Six European Countries (Springer, 2020), has received international recognition.

Prof. Erhabor Idemudia ist Professor für Forschungs- und Klinische Psychologie an der Fakultät für Humanwissenschaften der North-West University in Südafrika und ehemaliger Leiter des Fachbereichs Psychologie. Er promovierte in Klinischer Psychologie an der University of Ibadan in Nigeria und ist als etablierter Wissenschaftler von der südafrikanischen NRF ausgezeichnet. Er leitet drei bedeutende Ethikkommissionen (BaSSREC, HSSREC und EMELTEN-REC) und ist Generalsekretär sowie Mitglied des Vorstands des afrikanischen Chapters des World Council for Psychotherapy. Für seine herausragende Forschung erhielt er u.a. den Georg-Forster-Lifetime-Award der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. Mit über 450 Fachveröffentlichungen zählt er zu den führenden Stimmen im Bereich Migration, psychische Gesundheit und psychosoziales Wohlbefinden. Sein Buch Psychosocial Experiences of African Migrants in Six European Countries (Springer, 2020) genießt internationale Anerkennung.
